01Information We Process
The Agent operates primarily as a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system integrated via Microsoft AI Foundry. We process the following information:
- User Queries: The text descriptions of commodities or tariff codes you input into the chat interface.
- Contextual Metadata: Technical metadata passed by the host system, such as user language and basic session parameters.
- Session State: Short-term conversational state tracking parameters required to maintain multi-turn triage conversations.
02How We Use Information
We use the information processed by the Agent strictly to:
- Identify appropriate New Zealand customs tariff codes, duty rates, and active concessions.
- Formulate relevant follow-up clarification questions based on Working Tariff Document boundaries.
03Data Retention and Storage
- No Training Use: We do not use your chat inputs, business context, or query histories to train, retrain, or fine-tune our underlying Large Language Models or search indices.
- Microsoft Service Boundary: The Agent leverages Microsoft AI Foundry infrastructure. Data processed during live inferencing remains strictly within your enterprise's designated Microsoft 365 / Azure compliance boundary.
- Session Retention: Short-term session states are retained only as long as necessary to fulfill the immediate query loop, or as governed by your organisation's Microsoft Teams retention policy.
04Data Disclosure and Security
We implement strict organisational and technical safety boundaries. We do not sell, rent, or disclose transaction query logs to third parties. We do not transfer personal information outside of New Zealand or your corporate Microsoft boundary unless authorised by your organisation.
05Your Rights Under the NZ Privacy Act 2020
You have the right to request access to and correction of any personal data processed by this Agent. Because the Agent operates inside your corporate Microsoft environment, queries are tied to your enterprise user identifier.
To request access, deletion, or correction, please contact your organisation's internal IT/Privacy Officer or reach our support desk directly.

By using the Tariff Classifier Agent, you explicitly consent to the collection, processing, and storage of your data as described in this Privacy Statement. If you do not agree, please do not use the Agent.
